Thurs. Aug 25th- As I had mentioned, our plans took a bit of a detour…..instead of heading South and back home (we just couldn’t face the still hot Louisiana temps) we decided to head west, and NORTH, destination Yellowknife, NWT, Canada. We are scheduled Sept 7-11th to take a photography workshop at Peterson’s Point Lake Lodge, which is an 1.5 hr flight by float plane, north of Yellowknife and about 40 miles south of the Artic Circle.
We are planning to drive a couple of long days, then take our time, sightseeing our way from Edmonton, Alberta up to Yellowknife, following the East Access Route, then the Deh Cho Route in the “Milepost” Alaskan Hwy Guide. Some of the road will be familiar from our trip to Alaska last year, but much of the road will be brand new…….and kind-of remote. I am not sure what kind of internet reception we will be able to find, so I will just have to post on the blog as we go along.
Our first night on the road was spent just east of Belle Fourche, SD at Rocky Point Reservoir Rec Area. We were almost the only campers in the park (no others within view of our site). We had a beautiful site right on the lake, and caught the most beautiful sunset………
