The Adirondack Park, NY – AuSable Chasm

We left Cambridge on Sunday, June 5th – We were heading just up the road to the Adirondack Park and the Lake Placid and Saranac Lake area. Along the way, we stopped to tour the AuSable Chasm.

The AuSable River flows through this area, cutting a beautiful chasm with rapids and falls…..

This limestone formation is named the ‘Elephant Head’

The chasm walk was nice and easy, with boardwalks and stairs down to the ledges….

And hand rails….thank goodness!     : )

Fortunately, we could not go over the old boardwalk, which had been damaged in a flood. Can you imagine the force of the water flowing that high?!

This was a beautiful introduction to the Adirondack Park…..
