Sept 10 & 11 - The day that we arrived at Grand Teton NP it was cold and rainy. We set up the camper, then went to explore the park. We checked out the visitor’s center and general store, then drove over to Jackson Lake Lodge to enjoy the warmth of the lobby (and the WI-Fi) and to plan the next couple of day’s hikes.
Our first hike was around Jenny Lake, past the Hidden Falls, and up to Inspiration Point (a nice overlook at 7200 feet) and on a bit up Cascade Canyon. This was a nice 8.5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of about 800 feet. This was, also, a very popular hike. We were passed by many hikers going up or coming down the trail.
We had to stop every now and then just to look up……the Tetons surrounding us were amazing…..
And we spotted an osprey sitting on her nest……
This is Hidden Falls – very lovely and well named….
The view of Jenny lake from Inspiration Point……
From Inspiration Point, we followed the trail up Cascade Canyon. The trail was varied enough to not get boring – we hiked over a bolder field……
And across an open meadow……then into the woods…..The day, and the hike, were beautiful……..
