Tuesday august 6 – Saturday August 11th
We arrived at 7 Feathers RV Resort in Canyonville, Oregon, Tuesday around 11 am. There were 3 Airstreamers checking in before us, so we had to wait in line, and there was a steady stream coming in all day. I mention this, because it is really unusual to see even one other Airstream in most of the places we have camped.
The ‘Fandango’ is a camper rally that is sanctioned by Airstream, and sponsored by the magazine “Airstream Life” and a local Airstream dealer. A Rally is sort of like a conference, with presentations and other learning opportunities scheduled during the days.
The Airstream dealer, George Sutton from Eugene, Oregon, brought several different models of Airstreams to display which we were able to look around in and get any questions answered.
This rally is very much smaller than the Good Sam Rally, too. The ‘Fandango has about 65 campers, compared to the 2,500 that were in Phoenix.
This is a really nice size for a camper rally, as we all fit at the 7 Feathers RV Resort, a ‘luxury’ RV resort that is just across I-5 from the convention center, where the events were being held, and the 7 Feathers Casino.
Rather than being lined up in a parking lot, we each had full hook-ups and our own campsite with a concrete pad that was mostly level to park the camper on. Next to each campsite was a picnic table and a grassy area . The RV park was very nice feeling and clean….
and had an amazing swimming pool and exercise room as well as showers and laundry facilities. But….this week was not just about the campground. It was, first and foremost, about the Airstreams and the people who enjoy them.
We really have enjoyed ourselves at this rally, met a lot of interesting people and have learned a lot about traveling in an Airstream. I’ll share more about this in my next blog.
