Thursday, Aug 20th- Fred and I arrived at Madison Campground in Yellowstone NP. We were scheduled to pick up Brian and Rebekah the next evening at the Jackson Hole Airport. But we had a few thing to do before then…..
We got the camper set up and all clean and ready for company.
We settled into our campsite, which was very nice and spacious. We did not have any water or electric hook-ups, but were very comfortable.
Later, after Brian and Rebekah got all settled in, the campsite took on a very cozy feel – with a tent …….
And a hammock for relaxing….
But for that evening and the next day, Fred and I had time to just kick back a bit and enjoy the campground.
Just a short walk from our campsite, just over the levee, was the confluence of the Gibbon River, the Fire Hole River and the Madison River.
We got up early on Friday morning and took our coffee with us to sit overlooking this wide valley to see what wildlife might be out.
The Canadian Geese were just waking up…..
And took off in flight as we approached.
Away across the river at the wood line were a number of elk.
A good zoom lens caught this female, but the lighting was too dim to get much of a picture of this male.
After coffee, Fred and I headed to the Old Faithful Inn for a good breakfast, then spent a leisurely day sightseeing some of the Yellowstone geysers.
