Touring Yellowstone

Friday Aug 21st – Saturday Aug 22nd-  We planned to pick up Brian and Rebekah around 9:20 pm in Jackson, a 2 hour drive from our campground. But airplanes being what they are……which is usually late……their plane did not get in until 11:20 pm. With the drive back, we did not get to bed until 2 am!

After a very short night, we were all up and ready to make the most of our time at Yellowstone. (I have to say here, that Brian and Rebekah were very sweet to be in such good humor all today, as the time difference had made the previous day VERY long.)

We had lined up an all day tour of the south loop of the park and the  major features of Yellowstone.

This would be a bus tour with a wonderful guide named Jackie who gave us a great overview of the park.

We stopped at several of the lodges along our route. This is the Yellowstone Hotel located at Yellowstone Lake. It has such an elegant lobby.

We learned about thermophiles which are bacteria which give the water and surrounding area beautiful colors.

And, of course, there is Old Faithful Geyser.

After a full day of touring, we were headed back to our camper when we stopped to do a little bison watching…….
